About Our Black Youth

Our Black Youth is a new youth program in Thunder Bay, specifically for Black youth.  This program helps youth connect with other Black youth in the community, understand more about themselves and their identity, learn about Black history, explore Black culture, embrace strengths and resiliency and discover self-expression.

Program Facilitator

Juliana Hoekstra is a Child and Youth Worker graduate working for multiple organizations within the community of Thunder Bay to improve the quality of life for the Youth with whom she works.  Julianna has experience in running youth-focused programs that are specifically designed to create group cohesion and discussion platforms for younger voices who deal with unique struggles.  Some of these programs, like the CHOICES  program and Go Girls have been nationally recognized for their fun and alternative ways for helping youth talk about big issues.
